A Pirate Trolley Adventure

So we had quite the pirate adventure this weekend. The boy has really been into pirates and we found out that they offered a trolley pirate adventure here so of course we had to go and check it out. We weren't sure what to expect since no one we know had ever been on it but we bought the tickets and ventured forth just the same. It was a lot more fun than I expected and the boy loved it. He got all dressed up in his pirate gear and even encouraged the mom and the dad to do the same. The boy was the most decked out of course. We arrived at the welcome center where we would meet the trolley and got out to check out the pelicans and the jumping fish in the water. There were other kids there already and they were decked out as well. The boy looked the best though but I could be a little bias!

The trolley arrived and everyone was already in character. The narrator pirate jumped off the trolley and gave his best pirate look. The other kids backed down and screamed but the boy wasn't afraid. He gave a fierce look right back and started walking slowly towards the pirate. He was ready for battle. It was too funny and everyone got a kick out of it. The pirate loved the boy and even made him the honorary Capt. Hook of the evening. The boy got another pirate sword and a hook to take home. Abroad the trolley we drove through parts of downtown looking for clues that would lead us to the treasure at the end. Along the way we got to see some interesting characters battling it out. We captured one pirate and the boy was chosen to collect coins from the passengers to free him but the pirate then stole the treasure and took off.

All in all, it was quite fun and the boy loved it! We will definitely do it again in the future and rumor has it this acting group does other adventures throughout the year. We are looking forward to seeing what else they offer.

The Boy Graduates from Pre-K!

When I was first told that we needed to pay $20 for a cap and gown for the boy to graduate pre-k in, I was like, are you serious? I mean, I have always been against putting a little kid in a cap and gown and parading them around to celebrate an achievement like moving up a grade. I don't ever remember "graduating" from any of my grades until high school graduation except for our 8th grade promotion which I also thought was ridiculous. Anyway, my rant being said, the boy was so handsome in his cap and gown and I was such the proud Mom. I guess until you see your little one up there getting his certificate and smiling bright you don't fully get the whole child cap and gown. I still don't really get it but I did love how it made the boy feel. I can't believe he starts Kindergarten in the fall. I am officially getting old!

The boy's beach pictures

Beach Pictures

We couldn't resist stopping at the beach for some pictures on the sand dunes. They are beautiful and have yet to be ruined by the oil in the gulf. Now it's only a matter of time before we can't go to the beach

Picture of Papa

The boy asked us to set up his easel so he could draw papa a picture. Here is his masterpiece. He drew papa golfing. Not bad for a 4 year old artist! Papa could have used a little hair on his head though! Great job to the boy. There is even a logo on the shirt, too cute.

T-ball trophy

The boy had his end of season pool party while memere and papa were here. We sent the boy and the dad off for some fun and they came back tired but happy with trophy and medal in hand. The boy put on his uniform and posed for some pictures for his proud family. He did a great job this season and we are looking forward to next year already!

Shooting Hoops

Basketball hoops are a big thing in our neighborhood and there are always kids outside shooting hoops. The boy has been very interested in basketball, hence the hoop. He LOVES it and does a good job getting the ball in the hoop. It is set at about 8 feet right now and it is a good, challenging height for him. We are going outside in a little bit to, as the boy says "shoot some hoops!" What a great surprise the hoop was for the boy!

Soccer Time!

The boy has been playing soccer now for a few months every Saturday morning. Memere and papa got to watch him in action as they are now playing games. I am sure most of you can guess who the loudest person cheering was?! It has only gotten louder now that she is a grandparent. The boy loved it though and loved showing his moves off for his fan club.

The Boy's New Bike

Memere and papa bought the boy a new bike while they were here. He was so excited about getting one since he was just too big for his other one. We headed to the sports store and the boy has his eyes set on the red bike. He loves the color red! It is a little big for him but the size down was too small. He will grow into it in no time though and has already become quite the rider. If he keeps it up, his training wheels will be off in no time.

Playroom Playing!

The room the boy had to show off first was his playroom. He was excited to have memere and papa here to check out all his toys and of course play! The boy and his memere look pretty cozy in those bean bag chairs.

Painting!

So before my parents came, we painted the spare room. It was a very bright shade of mintish green. Tinkerbell to be exact. I never kept the door open since I felt like it glowed in the dark. I couldn't imagine sleeping in there myself so we had to change the color. We went with Seaside Sand. It is basically light beige and kind of boring but so much better than the green! The dad, the boy and I all had fun painting......well as much fun as anyone has painting that is!

Pool Time with Memere!

The boy was so excited that his memere and papa came to visit. We had lots of fun this past week. The boy enjoyed some pool time with both memere and papa. I loved that they attempted the back float together. There was lots of splashing and playing sharks and minnows. I watched from dry land and of course took some pictures. Since they left it has rained and rained and thrown off the pH balance of the pool. I know the boy and I can't wait to jump in there together and cool off!
