Miton Airport Fly-In

The conversation before the flight:

The Dad: There is a fly-in this weekend and depending on the cost of the flights, I would like the boy to go for a ride in one of the small airplanes with me.
The Mom: That is fine. I don't want to be there though, I will be too nervous.
The Dad: I will be sure to take pictures.

The conversation via cell phone right after the flight.

The Dad: I got some good pictures and we had lots of fun.
The Boy: Mom, I flew the airplane! It was awesome. Want to go flying with us sometime.
The Mom: That's great. I can't wait to see the pictures. (thinking how nice it was that the pilot let him be the "pilot")

The conversation while looking at the pictures.

The Mom: I see the boy sat up front. How nice that the pilot let him hold onto the controls.
The Dad: He was really great and the boy did such a good job.
The Mom: Wow babe. You must have had to really reach around the pilot in order to get that one picture of the boy. (see below)
The Dad: Oh, the didn't take that picture. The pilot did.
The Mom: Then who was in charge of flying the plane.
The Dad: The boy.
The Mom: SERIOUSLY!
The Dad: The boy took the controls for a little while and did a great job.
The Mom: Don't tell me that. He can't even see out the front of the plane.
The Dad: Not a big deal. He could see out his side window.
The Mom: Now that sounds really safe.

The boys had a blast and I am still replaying that last conversation in my head! I know with certainty it was best that I stayed home. I am glad they had a good time though.

Tomatoes

This year we decided to grow tomatoes. So far so good. We've already had at least 20 tomatoes come off our 3 plants and we have many more to go. We love the topsy turvy. It's a simple and easy way to grow tomatoes. We planted 3 different types of tomatoes and while they all taste delicious, the celebrity plant seems to be doing the best. We did one better boy and one big boy but I like the look and quality of tomatoe that comes off the celebrity plant. We will definitely plant another celebrity next year and maybe try a roma plant.

America's Kids Run

The boy participated in the America's Kids Run program this year. It was a one day event for kids to encourage them to get out and exercise. The boy's age group had to run a 1/2 mile and he was excited to "race". It was fun seeing all the kids working hard and the boy enjoyed it. He loves to run. He loves to run so much that he ran the most miles out of 6 kindergarten classes at his school with a total of 43.75 miles ran. He got a medal and couldn't wait to show it off to us. So proud of our little running man!

Camping at the Beach

Over Memorial Day weekend, we went camping at St. Andrew's State Park in Panama City, FL. The campground is awesome and right on the water. The best prices to stay on the beach as long as you don't mind sleeping in a tent. It was a little hot during the days but the nights were cool enough for tent camping. I didn't get any pictures at the campsite but got a few on our adventures out and about. Our friends rented a boat for a day and the kids took turns on the wheel. We stopped to snorkel a few times and just enjoyed our time on the water. We will definitely be going back once the summer heat subsides a little. A great campground! During our round of 18 hole mini golf, I shot 3 holes in one. I know, I know, I should have gotten a major award! LOL!

Look at those muscles!

QU Wedding

The kindgergarten classes at the boy's school have a Q and U wedding. Since Q can't exist without U in a word, they must be together forever. Why not have a wedding right?! The kid's loved dressing up for the day. The girls dressed like QUeens and the boys dressed like QUarterbacks. The wedding was fun. It was everything a wedding could be. The walk down the aisle, the vows, the reception and the well wishes at the end. There were even wedding gifts....QUaker oats, QUarters and QUilts. The boy got to be the U groom and spoke on behalf of U. I think the kids liked dancing the best and the boy showed off his moves during the chicken dance. It all ended with a cupcake and a smile. It was a good day. I added a picture of the cupcake stand since I made it and was happy with how it came out. I love the little Q bride and the U groom.

Brewton, AL Fly In

During one of the dad's flying weekends (which happen every other weekend), we met him in Brewton, AL for the local airport fly-in. It was fun to see the dad at "work" showing off his helicopter. With his student left in charge, we checked out the other aircrafts that were on display. It was a lot of fun. Of course the boy loved it since he loves all things aviation. There was even an Osprey on display which I think is the coolest aircraft out there. It flies like an airplane but lands and takes off like a helicopter. The boy liked the big gun on the back and we all enjoyed watching it take off and land. All in all a good day with the bonus being able to see the dad while he was hard at work.

Cinco de Mayo

Celebrating the mexican holiday in style. Twenty kindergarteners gave this pinata the smack down and only one person broke it open......the boy's teacher!

Field Day

The boy's school puts on a field day for all the grades. Each grade competes against each other in different events, most involving running. It was fun to watch and the boy's class even won some of the events. The boy had a blast since he LOVES to run. On Wednesdays they are required to do 2 laps around the track during P.E. Fridays are selective play days when they can play on or with the P.E. equipment. The boy chooses to run every Friday. He is one lap away from running 40 miles at school this year and the year hasn't even ended yet. He just can't seem to get enough of running. I hope he keeps that up.

Easter @ school

The boy and his class celebrated Easter with a BBQ and a egg hunt. It was lots of fun for the kids and the adults too. There was even a bounce house and the boy just can't get enough of bouncing. It's not easy getting good shots through the netting but I managed to get a cute face here and there. I can't believe his Kindergarten year is almost over.

Easter with Memere and Papa

I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted anything. All three of us have been so busy, I am amazed that it is the middle of May already. We had a great Easter this year. Memere and Papa came to visit and we had lots of fun. It was a relatively quiet weekend for activities since it is the bible belt but we found some adventures just the same. We had a beach day, more than one Easter egg hunt, golfing, shopping (too much of that!) and pedicures. The best part was just being together and seeing the boy enjoy his time with memere and papa. Here are some of the pictures from while they were here.
